Assistant School Keeper
Hours: 17.5 hour per week (3.5 hours daily, 3.00 - 6.30pm) Monday to Friday
Salary: Grade 1/2 points 1 – 5. £9,772 to £10,496 pro rata amount (£20,103 to £21,591 F/T amount)
Start Date: Required for as soon as possible
Contract: Permanent
We have a vacancy for an Assistant School Keeper within our site team.
NB: If the School Keeper is absent the Assistant School Keeper may be asked to provide site support cover.
Job Purpose and Context: An Assistant School Keeper will work as part of the site team and reports to the Site Keeper. The Assistant School Keeper assists the Site Manager to make sure our school site is safe, secure and ready for use by pupils, staff and other school users. The main responsibilities of an Assistant School Keeper will usually include:
- Key Holding and supervising lettings in the evenings and at weekends
- Daily cleaning responsibilities, including cleaning at height
- Emergency or minor repairs and maintenance on the school site
- Site Health and Safety and security
- Portering which may include heavy lifting
Ideally, we are looking for someone fit, active and with basic DIY skills (decorating, carpentry etc) with previous experience of working in a school or a similar ‘hands on’ background. Your daily responsibilities will include working alongside the cleaning team with designated areas to clean within the school. We want someone who will commit to creating a safe, clean and tidy environment to help our pupils get on with the business of learning.
Visits to the school are welcome by appointment with the Headteacher.
