We require an Administrative Assistant to work in our busy school. Applicants should have good word processing skills and be computer literate (Word, Excel). It is an expectation that candidates as a minimum hold GCSE grades A-C, or equivalent, in both Maths and English.
Our ideal applicant will have good interpersonal skills and be able to work calmly under pressure as a member of a team as well as being able to use their initiative to prioritise tasks in a fast moving environment.
Working at the front office, this position is often the first point of call for all visitors, so a cheerful personality is essential. We strive to build excellent relationships with our parents, pupils and the wider school community, so the ability to listen and desire to help are important for the role.
What we can offer:
- a welcoming and friendly atmosphere and pleasant working environment
- you will be joining an established and supportive administrative team
- supportive parents and governors who contribute to establishing a positive and happy learning environment.
This is a fixed term role to cover for the absence of the substantive post holder on maternity leave. Should the employee return to duty before the final date above, your appointment will cease with statutory notice.
Visits to our school are warmly welcomed. Please contact the school for an appointment.
Please apply online.
Closing date: Friday 15th October 2021.
Interviews week beginning Monday 18th October 2021.
Please note: We expect a lot of interest in this vacancy and as such reserve the right to close this advert early if required and without notice.
Recruitment and hiring during COVID-19: Despite the challenges we face, recruitment and hiring will continue for all Hornchurch Academy Trust vacancies with as little disruption as possible over the coming weeks and months. Applications will still be reviewed and interviews conducted in a timely manner, although interviews may be via video conferencing if appropriate.
Havering Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The protection of our pupils from abuse is the responsibility of all staff within our schools, superseding any other considerations. Therefore Havering Schools comply with the Department for Education ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ guidance.
It is an offence to apply for a post which involves engaging in regulated activity relevant to children if you are barred from doing so. Please be advised that, again in line with ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, shortlisted candidates (who wish to accept an invite to interview) will be required to submit, prior to their interview, a self-declaration of their criminal record or information that would make them unsuitable to work with children. Upon submission of this information, online checks may be carried out.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; the successful applicant will be expected to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure check. Having a criminal record will not necessarily debar you from obtaining a position with the School.
Equal OpportunitiesHavering Schools aim to promote and ensure equality of opportunity and equal treatment for all. We are committed to equal opportunities in employment regardless of gender, marital status, race, colour, nationality (including citizenship), ethnic or national origins, disabilities, age, sexual orientation, responsibility for dependants, religious or political affiliation and trade union activities. All matters related to employment are decided on the basis of qualifications, merit and business need.
