Newtons Primary School, based in the borough of Havering, is looking to take on three Graduates to work as Graduate teaching assistants from September 2022. This would be a great opportunity for a Graduate who is eager to gain paid primary school experience ahead of potentially commencing teacher training.
Our school actively encourages our support staff to train to be teachers and are keen to hear from aspiring teachers who are one day interested in becoming qualified teachers.
As a Graduate Teaching Support Assistant you will form part of a team of practitioners responsible for supporting the education and care of the children in the school. Your role will include advancing student learning; implement work programmes for individuals/groups and supervise physical/general care of students, including those with SEN; enable access to learning for students and assist the teacher in the management of students and the classroom.
We are looking for a person who:
- someone to provide excellent provision for our children and play an integral role in the development of our friendly and nurturing school
- a candidate who is, or wants to become, an outstanding learning assistant (and is possibly looking to one day become a teacher themselves)
- somebody who is forward thinking and adaptable
- someone who is relentless in securing academic and emotional progress for every child
We are looking for graduates who are excited about the prospect of working full time and making a difference to the lives of our wonderful children.
Visits to the school are warmly welcomed and encouraged. Please telephone the school office to make an appointment.
Please apply online.
Closing Date: Friday 24th June 2022 (we reserve the right to interview candidates prior to the closing date)
Havering Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The protection of our pupils from abuse is the responsibility of all staff within our schools, superseding any other considerations. Therefore Havering Schools comply with the Department for Education ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ guidance.
It is an offence to apply for a post which involves engaging in regulated activity relevant to children if you are barred from doing so. Please be advised that, again in line with ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, shortlisted candidates (who wish to accept an invite to interview) will be required to submit, prior to their interview, a self-declaration of their criminal record or information that would make them unsuitable to work with children. Upon submission of this information, online checks may be carried out.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; the successful applicant will be expected to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure check. Having a criminal record will not necessarily debar you from obtaining a position with the School.
