Receptionist / Administrative Assistant

Hours: 32.5 hours per week x 39 weeks per year - 5 days per week 8:30am - 3:30pm with 30 minutes lunch

Grade: Scale 3 points 5 to 6 

Actual Salary: £17,393 - £17,707 p.a. (includes holiday pay)

The Royal Liberty School where “pupils are well behaved, respectful and courteous” and “parents value the sense of community, which is palpable throughout the school” (OFSTED February 2019).

We are seeking to appoint a methodical, well organised and enthusiastic colleague to join our school office team.

Some of the main responsibilities of the role would include to provide an effective and efficient reception service to both internal and external stakeholders and to be responsible for the archiving of student records.  The receptionist is often the first point of contact therefore the candidate should demonstrate exemplary customer service skills.  You will be expected to use computerised management software to enter, record and retrieve data of students.  You will also be responsible for the distribution of incoming and outgoing mail which would include taking the mail to the Post Office and organising hospitality for meetings & visitors.

There would be a requirement for the successful candidate to undertake all relevant first aid training such as diabetic pump training and epi pen training to support the needs of our students.

The hours will be 7 hours per day (with a 30 minute lunch break), 5 days per week, 39 weeks a year (term time plus 5 INSET days).


The Royal Liberty School is a small comprehensive school for boys situated on a very pleasant Grade II* listed site.  The school is in an excellent location, a short walk from the main line Gidea Park station to London Liverpool Street.

We recently celebrated our centenary (our main school building has a history dating back over four hundred years) and are proud of our traditions, our strong sense of community and the excellent behaviour of our students.
