EAL Teaching Assistant
Hours: 35 hours per week, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm inclusive of one 30-minute break, 39 weeks per year (term time and inset days/twilights)
Grade: APTC 4 Points 7 - 10
Full Time Salary: £27,855 - £29,139 per annum
Actual Pro Rata Salary: £23,267 per annum
Contract: Permanent

Are you passionate about supporting students with English as an Additional Language (EAL)? Do you have the ability to speak other languages? We have an excellent opportunity for a dedicated EAL Teaching Assistant to join our team.
The successful candidate will ideally have an EAL qualification (preferably CELTA or equivalent) or a willingness to obtain this. They should also have experience of working with students with EAL needs and have an understanding of language acquisition principles. They will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be patient and willing to be flexible.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide language support to EAL students to help them access the curriculum, delivering 1:1 and small group intervention sessions
- Provide in-class support across subjects, especially English and Maths
- Provide reading interventions
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to differentiate instructions and resources
- Supporting students to prepare for GCSE, ESOL and community language exams
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for all, in all aspects of school life
The above duties are neither exclusive nor exhaustive and the post holder will be required to carry out such other appropriate duties as may be required by the Headteacher, within the grading level of the post and the competence of the post holder.
