Teacher of Science

Salary: Main Scale (Outer London)

Hours: Full Time

Required for September 2024

The Royal Liberty School where “Staff know their pupils very well, and as a result, pupils are happy and safe.  Pupils are polite, respectful and mature and value diversity and equality.” (OFSTED February 2024).

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Teacher of Science to join our supportive and successful faculty.  All our students study Science with many of them completing Triple Science at GCSE level.  Our boys are very enthusiastic about the study of this subject and take advantage of the many extra-curricular activities offered by the faculty (such as the Faraday Challenge and Lego Robotics - in both of these, teams from our school reached the regional finals). Results in Science are consistently strong and Triple Science are all close to the National average; we are very proud of this success and are looking for a new teacher to join our aspirational team.

This post would be very suitable for an Early Career Teacher (ECT) looking for their first appointment. ECTs are fully supported by an induction programme delivered by the school and the Empower Alliance.

We take a collaborative view of learning where good practice is shared through a structured INSET programme within school and across the Trust.

Royal Liberty School is a small comprehensive, 11-16 school for boys, located close to Gidea Park Station.  We pride ourselves on our strong sense of community and the excellent behaviour of the students.

Our results are impressive with the majority of subjects consistently above national average;

  • English 9-4 82%
  • Maths 9-4 82%
  • English and Maths 9-4 78%

We have recently celebrated our centenary (our main school building has a history of dating back over four hundred years) and we are proud of our traditions, our strong sense of community and the excellent behaviour of our students.  We are part of the Success for All Educational Trust with Redden Court School, Sanders Draper School and Rise Park Academies.

If you are looking to advance your career in a small, friendly supportive school and are committed to providing the very best experience for our students we would love to meet you.  If you would like to speak to the Headteacher, Mr L. Raftery, please feel free to contact the school.  We welcome visitors to the school from potential applicants.

As an employee you will be covered by our excellent well-being support and medical cover programme through the School Advisory Service (SAS).

This includes;

  • Access 24 hours a day to a GP helpline where you can have a telephone conversation for you and close relatives.
  • Access to Physiotherapy
  • Access to a counselling service
  • Free 12 week Weight Management Programme
  • Support for stress management
  • Lifestyle Screening
  • Relationship Counselling
  • Long-term condition support - support for you and family members where you or a member of your family is suffering from a long-term condition such as cancer, Multiple Sclerosis or Motor Neurones disease.  This list is not exhaustive.
  • Private Medical Service
  • Stress Counselling

As an employer we are committed to promoting career development and recognise hard work and effort.  This is evident in the attached staff testimonials.  In addition to ongoing CPD we will also provide;

  • Support towards achieving further qualifications
  • Leadership programmes (NPQML, NPQSL, NPQH and PiXL Leadership Programme)
  • Progression opportunities
  • Teacher Training Programme

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient suitable applications for the role. If you are interested in the role, please submit your application as early as possible.
