Computing is embedded into our KS3 curriculum with dedicated periods on our timetable each week, along with an extra slot for Information Technology taught on a carousel through Years 7-9. GCSE Computer Science and BTEC Digital IT are currently options available for our KS4 cohort and remain popular choices.
We have 3 dedicated Computing suites which are fully equipped and have all been updated with new PCs in the past year. We are also a 1:1 Chromebook school with many students owning their own device to use inside and outside of school to support their learning. We are an Edtech Demonstrator school for the Department for Education and an internationally recognised Google Reference School. We have gained early access to the latest hardware and software as a result of this and are often asked to pilot new groundbreaking technology.
We understand the important role that computing and digital technologies play in the future of our school and students, which is why it is embedded into our whole school priorities and vision. We also have an Edtech Team consisting of a Director of Technology and a range of staff from our teaching, associate, middle leadership and senior leadership teams who are enthusiastic practitioners of enhancing teaching and learning with the effective use of technology, and we are excited about the next steps of this project.
