Temporary Teaching Assistant
Grade 1/2 Points 2 - 5
Hours: 23.75 hours per week
38 weeks per year Plus 5.7 weeks paid holiday
Actual Salary: £14,294 - £14,994 p.a.
Contract: Temporary one year contract
Start: as soon as possible
We are seeking to appoint a dedicated, proactive and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant (TA) to join our Key Stage 1 team. The successful candidate will support the class teacher, lead individual and group interventions, and provide tailored support to pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons.
• Lead small group and one-to-one interventions to support pupil learning and development.
• Provide specific support to pupils with SEN, adapting resources and teaching strategies to meet individual needs.
• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to the class teacher.
• Assist with preparation of classroom materials and resources.
• Support pupils during break and lunchtime activities.
• Participate in staff meetings, training sessions and school events.
Requirements:
• A relevant qualification in education, childcare, or special educational needs (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning, NVQ Level 2/3).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience of working with young children, preferably in an educational setting.
• Have a sound knowledge of the Early Years and Key Stage 1 curriculum.
• Have a good understanding of child development.
• Experience of working with pupils with SEN.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Have patience, empathy and a positive attitude.
• Have experience of leading and supporting a range of interventions.
• Flexibility and adaptability to meet the varying needs of students.
Desired skills:
• Have a GCSE in Maths and English (A-C Grades).
• Have experience supporting pupils with Speech and Language needs.
• Have good behaviour management skills.
• Be an ambitious person who is keen to develop their own expertise and who has the desire to achieve.
• Have good IT skills.
• Have a good sense of humour.
