Temporary Learning Support Assistant

Grade 1/2 Points 2 - 5 

Hours: 32.5 hours per week

38 weeks per year Plus 5.7 weeks paid holiday

Actual Salary: £19,561 - £20,450 p.a. + SEN allowance

Contract: Temporary one year contract

Start: as soon as possible

We are seeking to appoint a dedicated, compassionate and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our Early Years team.  The successful candidate will provide one-to-one support to a child with specific health needs, ensuring they have a safe and inclusive learning experience. 

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide one-to-one support for a child with specific health needs in the Early Years setting.
• Following training, carry out daily medical procedures independently.
• Assist with the child’s personal care and medical needs as required.
• Support the child’s learning and development through tailored activities and interventions.
• Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCo to implement the child’s Individual Care Plan. 
• Communicate effectively with the child’s parents/carers about their progress and any concerns.
• Participate in relevant training and professional development opportunities.
• Keep clear records of daily medical needs and ensure procedures are carried out safely and effectively.
• Assist with personal care if required. 

• Previous experience working with young children, particularly in an Early Years setting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 
• Patience, empathy and a positive attitude.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure
• Flexibility and adaptability to meet the varying needs of students. 

Desired skills: 
• First aid certification, particularly paediatric first aid or the desire to complete relevant training.
• Experience with specific medical needs (e.g. administering medication, using medical equipment).
• Have a GCSE in Maths and English (A-C Grades).
• A relevant qualification in education, childcare, or special educational needs (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning).
• Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum and child development.
• Be an ambitious person who is keen to develop their own expertise and who has the desire to achieve.
• Have a good sense of humour.
