The Aspire Learning Federation was established in March 2022 between Elm Park Primary School and The RJ Mitchell Primary School. Both schools have a highly inclusive philosophy. We set high expectations for all our pupils and provide high quality pastoral care and support for our most  vulnerable pupils. Anyone applying for this post will be employed by the Aspire Learning Federation and may therefore be required to work across both schools. In the first instance, this post is to work at Elm Park Primary School.

Our motto is ‘Aspire, Believe and Achieve’, which we try to live by every day. We want to ‘grow’ good people, who are inspired to make a difference to their lives and the lives of others. Our behaviour management philosophy is based on the ‘restorative’ approach. We provide our children with a creative and innovative curriculum that embeds basic solid skills. We take a personalised approach to the curriculum which promotes self-challenge and independence in learning, as well as inclusion for all, whilst developing key life skills so that our children can become confident, independent and understanding individuals, who are well prepared for life as global citizens. We want the very best for our children and are prepared to work hard to achieve this vision.

We’re currently looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated, and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to work with a range of children with additional needs; ranging from Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder to Autism. The ideal applicant will have experience of working with children who have additional needs, have bags of creativity for stimulating and engaging children and have a real passion for education and making a difference to the lives of children through their work.

The role:

  • Supporting SEN children on a 1:1 or small group basis to work within the mainstream classroom environment.
  • Would liaise closely with other professionals.
  • The successful applicant with relevant training.

We can offer you the opportunity to develop outstanding practice as a SEN LSA, a supportive staff team, as well as forward thinking educational environment in which to work.

If you’re as excited about this role as we are, you can apply below.

Informal visits to The Aspire Learning Federation at The R J Mitchell Primary School are warmly welcomed and can be arranged by telephoning the school office on 01708 551684.

All candidates will be required to undertake a valid enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check and online checks will be completed as part of the shortlisting process.

Please see a copy of the job profile for further details regarding the role and responsibilities of the job.

Please apply online.

Closing date for applications: Friday 14th June 2024 at 9:00am

Interviews: w/c 17th June 2024

If you’re not contacted within 2 working days, unfortunately you have not been successful for this role. We have a lot of applications to our positions, so don’t be disheartened – you are still free to apply to one of our other vacancies that you may be more suited for.

The Aspire Learning Federation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Everybody who works for the schools within The Aspire Learning Federation is expected to promote and share this commitment. Online checks will be completed as part of the shortlisting process.

Safeguarding

Havering Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The protection of our pupils from abuse is the responsibility of all staff within our schools, superseding any other considerations. Therefore Havering Schools comply with the Department for Education ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ guidance.

It is an offence to apply for a post which involves engaging in regulated activity relevant to children if you are barred from doing so. Please be advised that, again in line with ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, shortlisted candidates (who wish to accept an invite to interview) will be required to submit, prior to their interview, a self-declaration of their criminal record or information that would make them unsuitable to work with children. Upon submission of this information, online checks may be carried out.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; the successful applicant will be expected to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure check. Having a criminal record will not necessarily debar you from obtaining a position with the School.

Equal Opportunities

Havering Schools aim to promote and ensure equality of opportunity and equal treatment for all. We are committed to equal opportunities in employment regardless of gender, marital status, race, colour, nationality (including citizenship), ethnic or national origins, disabilities, age, sexual orientation, responsibility for dependants, religious or political affiliation and trade union activities. All matters related to employment are decided on the basis of qualifications, merit and business need.
