Post Start Date: September 1st 2024

The Aspire Learning Federation was established in March 2022 between Elm Park Primary School and R J Mitchell Primary School. Both schools have a highly inclusive philosophy. We set high expectations for all our pupils and provide high quality pastoral care and support for our most vulnerable pupils. Anyone applying for this post will be employed by the Aspire Learning Federation and may therefore be required to work across both schools. In the first instance, this post is to work at R J Mitchell Primary School.

Our motto is ‘aspire, believe and achieve!’ which we try to live by every day. We want to ‘grow’ good people, who are inspired to make a difference to their lives and the lives of others.

We are looking for a teacher who loves their job with a passion, who is tech-savvy and understands how children with additional and complex needs learn and are outstanding in their practice as a result. We currently run a SEND unit for approximately 15 children with complex needs. The SEND unit runs a bespoke curriculum which focuses on the development of early language, social and emotional skills for children who have an ASD/Social Communication Difficulties diagnosis. This role comes with an additional SEN allowance as we are seeking someone who has a proven track record and experience in working within a specialist SEN provision and has a good understanding of Autism and strategies that can be used to effectively support pupils with Autism.

We can offer you the opportunity to develop outstanding practice as a teacher and within your leadership role, a supportive staff team, as well as a forward thinking educational environment in which to work.

Please see a copy of the job profile for further details regarding the role and responsibilities of the job.

Informal visits to The Aspire Learning Federation at R J Mitchell Primary are warmly welcomed and can be arranged by telephoning the Office Manager on 01708 551684.

Please apply online.

Closing date for applications: 7th June 2024

Interviews: w/c 10th June 2024

The Aspire Learning Federation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Everybody who works for the schools within The Aspire Learning Federation is expected to promote and share this commitment.

Safeguarding

Havering Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The protection of our pupils from abuse is the responsibility of all staff within our schools, superseding any other considerations. Therefore Havering Schools comply with the Department for Education ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ guidance.

It is an offence to apply for a post which involves engaging in regulated activity relevant to children if you are barred from doing so. Please be advised that, again in line with ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, shortlisted candidates (who wish to accept an invite to interview) will be required to submit, prior to their interview, a self-declaration of their criminal record or information that would make them unsuitable to work with children. Upon submission of this information, online checks may be carried out.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; the successful applicant will be expected to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure check. Having a criminal record will not necessarily debar you from obtaining a position with the School.

Equal Opportunities

Havering Schools aim to promote and ensure equality of opportunity and equal treatment for all. We are committed to equal opportunities in employment regardless of gender, marital status, race, colour, nationality (including citizenship), ethnic or national origins, disabilities, age, sexual orientation, responsibility for dependants, religious or political affiliation and trade union activities. All matters related to employment are decided on the basis of qualifications, merit and business need.
