Train-to-Teach Science

Hours: Full Time

Pay Scale: Unqualified £24,415 to £35,954

Contract: Fixed Term

Start Date: September 2024

 

We are looking to employ a graduate with a strong degree to train as a teacher of Science. The training encompasses a one-year initial teacher training course (ITT), with a view of permanent employment, dependant on successful completion of the course and performance. The next steps for the successful candidate would be an ECT programme on the qualified main teacher pay scale.

In the first year, the graduate will take on a small timetable that will increase in hours over the course of the year. They will be supported by an experienced mentor who will be in the classroom with them. The graduate will follow Hornchurch High School’s bespoke initial teacher training development programme. The successful candidate will seek to foster excellence and will have the ability to inspire enthusiasm for Science. They should also be willing to play a significant and meaningful role in the co-curricular life of the school.
