Class Teacher

Salary: Main Scale £36,413 - £48,532 ECTs are welcome to apply

Contract: Full time, Permanent

Start Date: September 2025

We are looking to recruit a passionate class teacher to join our supportive and experienced team. Our pupils are friendly, well-behaved and motivated to learn; our parents are supportive and engaged. Our staff are hardworking and dedicated to ensuring that the needs of our pupils are met through an age appropriate and purposeful curriculum. A love of creativity and learning through play is essential!

We are a three form Infant school in Gidea Park with a happy and nurturing ethos. Ofsted 2019 recognised the “school’s sense of community and commitment to developing a curriculum that engages the interests and needs of the children”. We are passionate for all to achieve their very best and will do all we can to support this. We have an experienced, supportive and stable staff team and are a RWInc school. School leaders provide high quality training and are mindful of staff wellbeing.

Although currently an Infant School, we are in the final stage of amalgamation with our neighbouring Junior School.  This presents an opportunity for the right candidate to join us at a very exciting time.

If you are interested and would like to find out more about this post please contact the Deputy Head Teacher, Mrs Sarah Leung, via the school office on 01708-446476. Visits to the school are very much encouraged.

Please apply online.

Closing Date: Thursday 15th May 2025 - 10am

Successful candidates will be contacted on Friday 16th May.

Interview Date: TBC

Squirrels Heath Infant School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The school follows safer recruitment practices and the successful applicants will be required to apply for an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check. A copy of our Safeguarding Policy is available to view on our website.

Safeguarding

Havering Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The protection of our pupils from abuse is the responsibility of all staff within our schools, superseding any other considerations. Therefore Havering Schools comply with the Department for Education ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ guidance.

It is an offence to apply for a post which involves engaging in regulated activity relevant to children if you are barred from doing so. Please be advised that, again in line with ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, shortlisted candidates (who wish to accept an invite to interview) will be required to submit, prior to their interview, a self-declaration of their criminal record or information that would make them unsuitable to work with children. Upon submission of this information, online checks may be carried out.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; the successful applicant will be expected to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure check. Having a criminal record will not necessarily debar you from obtaining a position with the School.

Equal Opportunities

Havering Schools aim to promote and ensure equality of opportunity and equal treatment for all. We are committed to equal opportunities in employment regardless of gender, marital status, race, colour, nationality (including citizenship), ethnic or national origins, disabilities, age, sexual orientation, responsibility for dependants, religious or political affiliation and trade union activities. All matters related to employment are decided on the basis of qualifications, merit and business need.
