Teaching Assistant to support complex SEND
Grade: Grade 1/2 spinal point 2-5
Hours: 32.5 hours per week. 8:30am - 3:30pm/Working 38 weeks per year (not including inset days). Paid for 43.7 weeks per year (inclusive of 5.7 weeks paid annual leave)
Salary: Pro Rata salary of £21,352 - £22,271 per annum (FTE £28,221 - £29,436 p.a.)
Contract: Fixed Term
We are inviting applications for a Teaching Assistant who has relevant experience of working with children with high needs to work with our complex SEND pupils with Physical disabilities at Mead.
The successful candidate will be calm and patient, have an extremely flexible attitude and:
- Be positive, confident and open to developing their knowledge of current theory and practice in teaching and learning, and SEND
- Be flexible and compassionate
- Be passionate about supporting pupils to develop their life skills, communication and their EHCP outcomes.
- Be able to work within a team
- Develop positive relationships with pupils and able to use a variety of strategies to meet individual needs
- Understand the importance of healthcare needs, cleanliness and hygiene and be ready to carry out personal care for pupils including nappy changing.
- Be enthusiastic, confident and able to use their initiative
- Be patient and empathetic
- Play a full part in the life of the school and committed to working in partnership with staff and parents.
You will ideally have prior experience of working with pupils who have Complex needs, Autism, ADHD, Physical disabilities and/or pupils with medical needs. Due to the nature of the role, you may deal with a variety of conditions, so being able to adapt your supporting methods is essential. You will need to be physically fit and able to work outdoors and manage personal care for our children if required. An ability to motivate and engage children is essential.
