CLASS TEACHER
Required January 2025
Main Pay Scale/Upper Pay Scale
St Edward’s is a very special place with a distinctive Christian ethos. Following our Ofsted inspection in October 2024, we were judged Outstanding in all areas – a reflection of the dedication of our excellent teachers, support staff, governors, parents and, of course, our enthusiastic and caring children. Together, we create a vibrant and engaging community in which to work, teach and learn.
Whilst we are inclusive in appointing staff of all faiths and none, we require all staff to uphold and participate in the Christian life of our school.
We are excited to offer the opportunity for a Class Teacher to join our team, initially to teach in KS2. With very low staff turnover, this is a rare and exciting chance to become part of our school family.
We are looking for someone with:
-
Very high expectations of themselves and the children they teach.
-
A commitment to providing the very best education.
-
A willingness to contribute to the wider life of the school.
At St Edward’s, professional development is a real strength. In recent years, our teaching staff have completed the NPQLT (National Postgraduate Qualification in Leading Teaching) and several colleagues have also completed NPQSL and NPQH. Whatever your stage, you can be assured of strong support and encouragement from our leadership team.
We are open to tailoring the role for the right candidate, making this an excellent opportunity for either an ECT at the start of their career or an experienced teacher seeking a fresh challenge and the chance to step into a role where you can have a wider impact across the school. Applicants with existing TLR responsibilities will also be considered.
We are also deeply committed to staff wellbeing. We recognise the benefits of flexible working and welcome applications from those seeking part-time roles. If this applies to you, please state your preference clearly in your personal statement.
If you would like to find out more about this opportunity, or to arrange a visit to our warm and welcoming school, please contact David Kendrick-White (PA to the Headteacher) on 01708 745971 or at contact@stedwardsva.net.
Closing date for applications: Monday 29th September 2025 at 12noon
Interview dates: Week beginning Monday 6th October 2025
Havering Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The protection of our pupils from abuse is the responsibility of all staff within our schools, superseding any other considerations. Therefore Havering Schools comply with the Department for Education ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ guidance.
It is an offence to apply for a post which involves engaging in regulated activity relevant to children if you are barred from doing so. Please be advised that, again in line with ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, shortlisted candidates (who wish to accept an invite to interview) will be required to submit, prior to their interview, a self-declaration of their criminal record or information that would make them unsuitable to work with children. Upon submission of this information, online checks may be carried out.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; the successful applicant will be expected to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure check. Having a criminal record will not necessarily debar you from obtaining a position with the School.
Equal OpportunitiesHavering Schools aim to promote and ensure equality of opportunity and equal treatment for all. We are committed to equal opportunities in employment regardless of gender, marital status, race, colour, nationality (including citizenship), ethnic or national origins, disabilities, age, sexual orientation, responsibility for dependants, religious or political affiliation and trade union activities. All matters related to employment are decided on the basis of qualifications, merit and business need.
