White Hart Lane, Collier Row, Romford, RM7 8JB

Tel: 01708 747070

Executive Head Teacher: Mr C. Brown

Head Teacher: Mrs G. Horne

Deputy Head Teacher

Hours: Full time

Salary: Leadership Scale L12 – L16

Contract: Permanent

Start: January 2026

At Crownfield Junior, we believe in working as a team for the children that we are responsible for and care for. We believe that our children are at the centre of all we do, encouraging and supporting them to be the best that they can be. We treat the children as individuals and understand that their needs are unique to them.

We are looking for someone new, someone like-minded, to join our well-motivated, happy team as a Deputy Head teacher. Successful applicants must already have current experience of a School Leadership role and be able to support the vision and strategic focus to enhance the education of all pupils in the school and across the federation.

We are extremely proud of our school and the broad curriculum we offer. We are a four-form entry and partners with the Mawney Foundation School as the Learning and Achieving Federation, through which we exchange good practice and resources to continue our journeys forward.

Our Ofsted Report in July 2023 stated:

‘Pupils at this school are kind, polite and hard-working. In lessons they listen to their teachers and to each other.' ‘Pupils with SEND are quickly identified and are very well supported to study the same broad curriculum as their classmates. Teachers and leaders work together to identify strategies that best meet these pupils’ needs.’ 'Safeguarding is prioritised and leaders are tenacious in securing support for the most vulnerable pupils.’ ‘Staff feel well-supported by leaders.’

We would like to appoint an enthusiastic, organised person who:

  • Is an exceptional classroom practitioner, with experience across the primary age range, able to role-model all aspects of outstanding classroom practice.
  • Is a dynamic and creative practitioner with high expectations and a proven record of raising attainment.
  • Has a clear understanding of what constitutes excellent teaching and learning, and the ability to lead staff in these areas.
  • Has the ability to lead the analysis of performance data.
  • Is creative and innovative, with the ability to effectively support and motivate others.
  • Has the proven ability to lead a curriculum area, improving teaching and learning, and raising standards and attainment across the school.
  • Has strong organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Is passionate about developing community links and learning opportunities for all.
  • Shows a commitment to extending their leadership experience.

Please refer to the job profile and person specification.

We are lucky to be set in beautiful grounds. Our children are great to work with: polite, enthusiastic, hard working with a sense of fun!  We have a very supportive staff who work together for the good of the children – they have a sense of humour too!

I am available to contact at any time during the day or you can come and have a look around.  Please phone our reception on 01708 747070. You may also wish to look at our website for further information.

Please apply online.

Closing Date: 17th October 2025, at 3pm

Interviews: w/c 20th October 2025

Interviews will include activities and an interview.

Safeguarding

Havering Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The protection of our pupils from abuse is the responsibility of all staff within our schools, superseding any other considerations. Therefore Havering Schools comply with the Department for Education ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ guidance.

It is an offence to apply for a post which involves engaging in regulated activity relevant to children if you are barred from doing so. Please be advised that, again in line with ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, shortlisted candidates (who wish to accept an invite to interview) will be required to submit, prior to their interview, a self-declaration of their criminal record or information that would make them unsuitable to work with children. Upon submission of this information, online checks may be carried out.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; the successful applicant will be expected to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure check. Having a criminal record will not necessarily debar you from obtaining a position with the School.

Equal Opportunities

Havering Schools aim to promote and ensure equality of opportunity and equal treatment for all. We are committed to equal opportunities in employment regardless of gender, marital status, race, colour, nationality (including citizenship), ethnic or national origins, disabilities, age, sexual orientation, responsibility for dependants, religious or political affiliation and trade union activities. All matters related to employment are decided on the basis of qualifications, merit and business need.
