Year 3 Class Teacher - Maternity Cover

Hours: Part-Time 4 days each week (Monday – Thursday)

Salary: MS1 – UPS (depending on experience)

Contract: Fixed term for Maternity Cover

Required for February 2026

La Salette is looking to appoint a teacher for maternity cover in our Year 3 class to work as part of our dedicated team in raising standards for our children and bringing them to their full potential.

La Salette Catholic Primary School is a vibrant, child-centred and welcoming school. We provide a positive and supportive learning environment that allows all of our children to grow and excel academically and spiritually. We aim to provide exceptional teaching, coupled with challenge and high expectations of ourselves, pupils and our parents. Our vision for learning is centred around our core values of joy, love and friendship.

Our recent Ofsted inspection report (January 2022) noted:

‘Leaders and staff encourage all pupils to be ambitious in their learning. Pupils respond well to these high expectations and work hard in lessons. Parents value the work that teachers do. Staff were also full of praise for leaders’ work and are proud to work in the school. Leaders make sure that staff workload is manageable.’

We are looking for a person who:

  • Is a strong classroom practitioner;
  • Is enthusiastic, confident, committed and inspirational;
  • Is able to support children both academically and with social and personal needs;
  • Enjoys working as part of a wider team and is keen to develop professionally;
  • Has the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with pupils, treating them with respect and consideration;

What we can provide:

  • Continued professional development and training;
  • Well behaved and motivated pupils;
  • A supportive and caring team;
  • Good communication and support in your role.
  • A Catholic ethos at the heart of all we do;

We strongly encourage visits to our school by applicants; please contact Mr Wilson, Head teacher, for more information or for an appointment to view the school. We also have a wide variety of information on our school website.

Please apply online.

Closing date for applications: Monday 5th January @ 12pm

All successful applicants will be contacted by Friday 9th January, and interviews will be held during that week.  If you have not heard by this date, your application has been unsuccessful on this occasion.

Safeguarding

Havering Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The protection of our pupils from abuse is the responsibility of all staff within our schools, superseding any other considerations. Therefore Havering Schools comply with the Department for Education ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ guidance.

It is an offence to apply for a post which involves engaging in regulated activity relevant to children if you are barred from doing so. Please be advised that, again in line with ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, shortlisted candidates (who wish to accept an invite to interview) will be required to submit, prior to their interview, a self-declaration of their criminal record or information that would make them unsuitable to work with children. Upon submission of this information, online checks may be carried out.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; the successful applicant will be expected to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure check. Having a criminal record will not necessarily debar you from obtaining a position with the School.

Equal Opportunities

Havering Schools aim to promote and ensure equality of opportunity and equal treatment for all. We are committed to equal opportunities in employment regardless of gender, marital status, race, colour, nationality (including citizenship), ethnic or national origins, disabilities, age, sexual orientation, responsibility for dependants, religious or political affiliation and trade union activities. All matters related to employment are decided on the basis of qualifications, merit and business need.
