2 SEND Teachers for primary aged children

Salary: MPS/UPS+SEN Allowance

Hours: Full time [part time considered]

Contract: Temporary [maternity cover] to 30th April 2027

Start: 13th April 2026 or earlier if available

 

Here at Mead Primary School and SEND unit we have a fantastic inclusion team with caring, passionate and enthusiastic staff who work with our pupils who have Communication and Interaction difficulties. Our school is a nurturing place for our children to learn, feel safe and be happy. We provide bespoke support for our children and wherever possible, opportunities for the children to access the mainstream curriculum.

We have two maternity cover vacancies coming up and we are looking to employ two primary teachers with a passion and experience in supporting children with a range of additional needs, including  Autism and social communication difficulties, Physical Disabilities and pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties. The SEND teachers also manage a dedicated team of learning support staff who have a wide range of experience, skills and SEND knowledge. 

We are seeking candidates who:

  • Hold QTS and have experience in teaching the primary age range and children with significant SENDs.
  • Are confident in using their knowledge of current theory and practice in teaching and learning and SEND.
  • Are able to lead and inspire a team of experienced SEND TAs in the continued development and delivery of high quality and effective interventions.
  • Are ready to adapt and utilise the benefits of a curriculum that is innovative and flexible in terms of delivery and content: this has to include designing a bespoke curriculum that meets the needs of a variety of learners, whilst meeting the targets on their EHCP’s.
  • Are engaged with the School’s ethos, thinking creatively and reflectively within an open and honest team, whilst keeping the needs of the pupils firmly at the centre.
  • Are able to develop positive relationships with our children and enable them to be the best they can be.
  • Play a full part in the life of the school and is committed to working in partnership with staff, parents and governors.

As members of the Inclusion team, the post holders will work collaboratively with our Assistant Headteacher of Inclusion, SENDCo, SEND teachers and HLTAs as well as outside agencies such as Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists etc.
