Oasis Academy Pinewood is seeking an exceptional Assistant Principal to co‑lead our curriculum, drive high-quality teaching and learning, and champion the Oasis ethos and 9 Habits across our vibrant academy community.

As a key member of the Leadership Team, you will play a pivotal role in leading either Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2 (aligned to your specialism), implementing the OCL pedagogy strategy in a way that works for Pinewood, developing staff, and ensuring that all children achieve their very best - academically, socially, and emotionally.

What we’re looking for

We are seeking an ambitious, values‑driven leader who can:

  • Strategic leadership: contribute to whole‑school strategy and the academy development plan; lead priority strands (e.g., Teaching & Learning, Curriculum, Inclusion or Outcomes).
  • Phase leadership of either Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2 (aligned to your specialism) ensuring high expectations, excellent teaching and strong pupil outcomes.
  • Standards & assessment: use data intelligently to raise attainment and close gaps.
  • Drive improvement through instructional coaching, effective use of data and impactful pedagogical practice.
  • Develop and mentor teachers, including leading CPD, coaching, appraisal and supporting ECTs/trainees.
  • Collaborate effectively with stakeholders including parents, the community, Trust leaders and partner schools.
  • Deputise for the Principal/Deputy Principal when required.

In this strategic leadership role, you will:

  • Lead academy-wide improvement priorities linked to curriculum, teaching and learning.
  • Shape the culture, environment and professional climate of the academy.
  • Use national, Trust and academy data to inform intervention and raise standards.
  • Promote extra-curricular provision that enriches our students’ experiences.
  • Hold responsibility for staff deployment, behaviour for learning and operational organisation across KS1/KS2.
  • Play a key role in safeguarding as a designated safeguarding officer.

Why Oasis Academy Pinewood?

  • We’re a caring, inclusive school rooted in community, relationships and high aspirations.
  • Children who are eager to learn, families who value partnership and a staff team committed to transformation.
  • Extensive CPD, leadership coaching and Trust‑wide collaboration through Oasis Community Learning.
  • A chance to shape the strategic direction of our academy and contribute to its exciting journey of improvement.

Safeguarding

Havering Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The protection of our pupils from abuse is the responsibility of all staff within our schools, superseding any other considerations. Therefore Havering Schools comply with the Department for Education ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ guidance.

It is an offence to apply for a post which involves engaging in regulated activity relevant to children if you are barred from doing so. Please be advised that, again in line with ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, shortlisted candidates (who wish to accept an invite to interview) will be required to submit, prior to their interview, a self-declaration of their criminal record or information that would make them unsuitable to work with children. Upon submission of this information, online checks may be carried out.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; the successful applicant will be expected to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure check. Having a criminal record will not necessarily debar you from obtaining a position with the School.

Equal Opportunities

Havering Schools aim to promote and ensure equality of opportunity and equal treatment for all. We are committed to equal opportunities in employment regardless of gender, marital status, race, colour, nationality (including citizenship), ethnic or national origins, disabilities, age, sexual orientation, responsibility for dependants, religious or political affiliation and trade union activities. All matters related to employment are decided on the basis of qualifications, merit and business need.
