Contract: Fixed Term Casual Contract on a timesheet basis
Hours: 12pm - 4pm 5 days per week for the following terms - Summer 1, Summer 2 and Autumn 1 (April - October each year)
Scale: Unqualified 3.0
Actual Salary: £25.28 per hour

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic swimming teacher to plan, deliver and evaluate high quality, safe and engaging swimming lessons to individuals and groups of varying ages and abilities, from non-swimmers to advanced participants, in line with recognised swimming frameworks (e.g. Swim England Learn to Swim Programme or STA criteria). The role focuses on developing water confidence, essential swimming skills and promoting water safety in a supportive learning environment. The role is seasonal due to the outside pool.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver structured, fun and progressive swimming lessons tailored to the needs of pupils (30mins lessons for 10 pupils per group)
- Plan and deliver an after school swimming club
- Provide clear instruction and demonstrations of swimming techniques
- Regularly assess each participant’s ability and progress, providing constructive feedback to swimmers
- Ensure safety standards are followed at all times by adhering to pool safety operating procedures, including the normal operating policy and emergency action plan
- Maintain a safe, clean, and secure teaching environment, including checking life saving equipment and setting up/storing equipment
- Undertake administrative duties such as recording achievements using manual or electronic systems
- Assisting with enquiries and resolving problems professionally
- Adhere to all safeguarding children policies and procedures
Essential Qualifications
- A current, nationally recognised Level 2 Swimming Teacher qualification
- nd one of the following together with site specific and regular ongoing competency assessed CPD training relative to your lifeguard/rescue qualification
- RLSS UK National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ)
- STA Pool Lifeguarding
- RLSS UK National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches (NRASTC)
- STA Safety Award for Teachers
