Are you a supportive teacher who can take even the most challenging moments and turn them into successes—with positivity, encouragement and a calm, can-do attitude?

Do you thrive in a school bursting with diversity, energy, and ambition?

Can you keep going when the glue sticks dry up, the Wi-Fi wobbles, and the day doesn’t quite go to plan?

Do you aim high—not just for yourself, but for every child you teach?

If you’re nodding along thinking, “This is absolutely my kind of place,” then keep reading…

Welcome to R J Mitchell Primary School

We’re a vibrant, highly inclusive, and proudly diverse school where every child is encouraged to shine. We believe in lifting pupils up, cheering them on, and helping them discover just how brilliant they can be.

And yes… we have a school dog.

What We’re Looking For

We’re on the hunt for a Class Teacher who:

  • Has QTS (the essentials matter!)
  • Loves teaching (like, really loves it)
  • Brings enthusiasm, imagination, and energy into the classroom
  • Sets high expectations—for behaviour and achievement
  • Has a strong track record as a primary practitioner
  • Is organised, personable, and a team player
  • Has a good sense of humour (non-negotiable)
  • Enjoys the important things in life: dogs, biscuits, chocolate and being part of a happy, supportive team

What You’ll Get in Return:

  • A dedicated team focused on raising standards and achieving great things
  • Ongoing professional development (we invest in you!)
  • Supportive leadership and governors who genuinely care
  • A strong commitment to staff wellbeing (because you matter too)

Come and Say Hello!

We’d love to meet you. Informal visits are warmly welcomed—come see us in action!

Safeguarding

Havering Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The protection of our pupils from abuse is the responsibility of all staff within our schools, superseding any other considerations. Therefore Havering Schools comply with the Department for Education ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ guidance.

It is an offence to apply for a post which involves engaging in regulated activity relevant to children if you are barred from doing so. Please be advised that, again in line with ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, shortlisted candidates (who wish to accept an invite to interview) will be required to submit, prior to their interview, a self-declaration of their criminal record or information that would make them unsuitable to work with children. Upon submission of this information, online checks may be carried out.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; the successful applicant will be expected to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure check. Having a criminal record will not necessarily debar you from obtaining a position with the School.

Equal Opportunities

Havering Schools aim to promote and ensure equality of opportunity and equal treatment for all. We are committed to equal opportunities in employment regardless of gender, marital status, race, colour, nationality (including citizenship), ethnic or national origins, disabilities, age, sexual orientation, responsibility for dependants, religious or political affiliation and trade union activities. All matters related to employment are decided on the basis of qualifications, merit and business need.
