At The Learning Federation we believe that a child’s socio-economic background should not be a barrier to success. We passionately believe that inclusion isn’t just a buzzword—it is the heartbeat of our school. We believe that every child deserves a safe, nurturing space to learn, grow, and feel understood.

You will be a safe harbor for children navigating complex emotional landscapes. Working closely with our SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and class teachers, you will:

  • Provide targeted 1:1 and small group support for children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
  • Implement bespoke de-escalation strategies and emotional regulation techniques to help children manage anxiety, frustration, or trauma.
  • Create a nurture-first environment, using restorative practices to manage challenging behaviors.
  • Someone who understands that "behavior is communication" and looks past the disruption to see the child who needs help
  • Collaborate closely with the school interaction with external agencies (like CAMHS or educational psychologists) and families to ensure a holistic approach to each child’s well-being.

Your role will be to enhance the learning and life skills of the children in a way which is individualised to their specific needs. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience and be able to adapt their supporting methods to suit varying levels of need as required.

You will be a positive, proactive team player who enjoys a challenge and has a good level of education.

We can offer you:

  • Well behaved, hardworking and enthusiastic pupils;
  • An inspiring, supportive school community;
  • A commitment to a culture of continuous professional development

This is an exciting opportunity for an inspirational TA to take on a crucial role within our expanding vibrant school. The successful candidate should be an outstanding professional brimming with enthusiasm to make a real difference to the life chances of our pupils.

Safeguarding

Havering Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The protection of our pupils from abuse is the responsibility of all staff within our schools, superseding any other considerations. Therefore Havering Schools comply with the Department for Education ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ guidance.

It is an offence to apply for a post which involves engaging in regulated activity relevant to children if you are barred from doing so. Please be advised that, again in line with ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, shortlisted candidates (who wish to accept an invite to interview) will be required to submit, prior to their interview, a self-declaration of their criminal record or information that would make them unsuitable to work with children. Upon submission of this information, online checks may be carried out.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; the successful applicant will be expected to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure check. Having a criminal record will not necessarily debar you from obtaining a position with the School.

Equal Opportunities

Havering Schools aim to promote and ensure equality of opportunity and equal treatment for all. We are committed to equal opportunities in employment regardless of gender, marital status, race, colour, nationality (including citizenship), ethnic or national origins, disabilities, age, sexual orientation, responsibility for dependants, religious or political affiliation and trade union activities. All matters related to employment are decided on the basis of qualifications, merit and business need.
