Scargill Infant school is a warm and welcoming two-form entry Infant school that is part of the Hornchurch Academy trust. We have a thriving 48-place nursery at the heart of our community. Our friendly pupils, supportive families and dedicated staff create a warm and nurturing environment where everyone is valued.

The Hornchurch Academy Trust is a group of six schools based in Rainham, Upminster and Northfleet within the London Borough of Havering and Kent.

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Class Teacher to join our KS1 team. Experience of teaching within KS1 would be an advantage, alongside a secure understanding of early reading, phonics and the development of pupils' independence and learning behaviours.

We are looking for a teacher who has high expectations of all pupils, delivers engaging and purposeful learning and is committed to ensuring every child makes strong progress. You will be a reflective practitioner who is keen to develop your own practice and contribute positively to the wider life of the school.

Whether you are an experienced teacher looking for a new challenge or an early-career teacher ready to develop your expertise, we would love to hear from you.

There are opportunities for professional development and promotion within the Trust.

For more information, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Phillips on 01708 555707

As part of Hornchurch Academy Trust, we can offer you:

  • Enhanced career development opportunities, working across the Trust schools.
  • Excellent CPD opportunities to support career progression.
  • Mentoring support from an experienced and supportive team of staff and access to trained wellbeing mentors in all schools.
  • Continuous service granted to joining staff.
  • Employee Assistance Programme, including face to face counselling, financial, family and legal advice.
  • Staff discount scheme (HES rewards).
  • 24 hour access to online Wellbeing support App.

Safeguarding

Havering Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The protection of our pupils from abuse is the responsibility of all staff within our schools, superseding any other considerations. Therefore Havering Schools comply with the Department for Education ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ guidance.

It is an offence to apply for a post which involves engaging in regulated activity relevant to children if you are barred from doing so. Please be advised that, again in line with ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, shortlisted candidates (who wish to accept an invite to interview) will be required to submit, prior to their interview, a self-declaration of their criminal record or information that would make them unsuitable to work with children. Upon submission of this information, online checks may be carried out.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; the successful applicant will be expected to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure check. Having a criminal record will not necessarily debar you from obtaining a position with the School.

Equal Opportunities

Havering Schools aim to promote and ensure equality of opportunity and equal treatment for all. We are committed to equal opportunities in employment regardless of gender, marital status, race, colour, nationality (including citizenship), ethnic or national origins, disabilities, age, sexual orientation, responsibility for dependants, religious or political affiliation and trade union activities. All matters related to employment are decided on the basis of qualifications, merit and business need.
