Executive Headteacher Mr M J Dineen
Head Teacher for Towers Junior School
Leadership Scale: L13 - L17 (£58,465 - £64,156)
To start April 2020
After 6 successful years, our wonderful Junior Head Teacher will be retiring at Easter. Governors alongside the Executive Head Teacher and school community are seeking to appoint an inspirational, dynamic and creative successor with a proven track record of success in senior leadership roles, having experience of strategic decision making and the ability to evaluate the effectiveness of provisions.
Our current Head has been instrumental in the improvements made to our school and in driving forward common working practices across the Federation of schools. We are not looking to replace her, we are searching for our next leader who will bring with them the skills needed to continue to build on the excellent work and achievements made thus far and work in harmony with our Infant school Head Teacher.
The Federation of Towers Schools comprises of an Infant school and Junior school, situated on the same site who are formally joined together in a successful and happy partnership. Our schools are oversubscribed three form entry and our infant school has its own amazing nursery, where places are in high demand.
At The Federation of Towers schools, we BUILD our futures together, and whilst there are two schools, we have ONE vision. We require someone with compassion, drive, empathy and who will always put our wonderful children at the forefront of their day, who will always stop to listen to them, go that extra mile for them, show love and care towards them, recognising and celebrating their unique qualities, supporting the values of the school, inspiring each and every one of them to be able to aspire to be whoever they want to be. Our parents are fantastic too – and you will be required to be a presence and readily listen to any queries they may have. We are looking for someone who will only make decisions where they are in the best interests of our children.
With 360 ‘simply superb’ children who learn in a responsible and considerate way, this is one of the most popular local schools for children aged 7-11 years, with waiting lists for nearly all year groups. The atmosphere at Towers Junior School is a dynamic and engaging place, which sits in a tranquil location at the heart of the Hornchurch community.
We are a maintained Local Authority school which is strong, diverse, forward looking and vibrant. To our community, to all of our children, staff and parents and carers you will be their Head Teacher – the pivotal person, their go-to person and the strength of the school. You will be responsible for all day to day running of our Junior school under the direction of our Executive Head Teacher.
Our school requires a leader to further build upon the successes of our most recent Ofsted (our Junior School was rated Good in July 2019). Whilst this is an amazing achievement, the Governors and Executive Head Teacher are never complacent in demanding the highest possible outcomes; academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually. This is a brilliant opportunity where day to day you will be leading a wonderfully creative, dynamic and hard-working team. In conjunction with the Executive Head Teacher, you will be required to lead and sustain the excellent outcomes for all of our children, deepening the vision we have and contributing to sustained success.
Working with the Executive Head Teacher of the Federation, Head Teacher of Towers Infant school, our Federated Governing Body and a supportive SMT you will lead 50+ talented, committed and highly skilled staff. You will deliver a seamless transition from KS1 to KS2 and beyond, strengthening our relationships as our children grow and develop from Year 3 through to Year 6 and onto Secondary. Sharing ideas, strengths and bringing the best possible opportunities to all of the children in our Federation. We have links with many schools across the local authority and other organisations and we wish to appoint someone who will proactively develop these links even further. We take pride in offering opportunities to further develop leadership skills and are always looking forward in our thinking.
As well as welcoming and celebrating diversity and pursuing high standards of achievement and academic excellence, above all we value inclusion, creativity and the joy of learning. Everything we do is driven by the vision and values of our school, where we BUILD our future together!
