Home School Support Worker + Safeguarding Officer

Hours: 35 hours per week x 38 weeks per year

Grade: Grade 4, Points 10 - 15

Salary: £18,971 - £20,740 pro rata actual salary

Contract: Permanent

To Start: March 2020

We are looking to appoint a Home School Support Worker (including Safeguarding Officer) who will work with children and families who may be experiencing a range of challenges. This person will support and strengthen our already very positive links with parents and provide assistance to families during particularly difficult times. Previous work experience related to health, child protection, social services, mentoring, counselling, and or/working within parenting programmes would clearly be beneficial. The successful candidate will also need to be an enthusiastic, flexible, confident individual with excellent interpersonal and behaviour management skills.

Access to your own transport is essential, as is Business Driving Insurance.

Crownfield Junior is a proactive, supportive, well-resourced primary school, with high expectations of all members of staff and pupils. Our children are the centre of all we do. You will also join us at a very exciting time. We are currently undergoing expansion work and will increase from a 3 form to 4 form entry from September 2020.

The school has also been graded as ‘Good’ in our last 2 Ofsted inspections (most recently in June 2018). They said:

The school has a strong culture of care. Pupils are extremely polite and well behaved. In lessons, they are engaged in their learning and listen to one another respectfully.'

If you think that you have the experience, energy, enthusiasm and skills to fit into our continually improving school, applications can be submitted online.

Visits to the school are warmly welcome. Please contact the School Office on 01708 747070 to arrange a tour of the school.

Closing date: Friday 24th January 2020

Interviews: Thursday 30th January 2020

This post is exempt from the provision of the rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, and the successful applicant will be expected to undertake an enhanced disclosure.

Safeguarding

Havering Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The protection of our pupils from abuse is the responsibility of all staff within our schools, superseding any other considerations. Therefore Havering Schools comply with the Department for Education ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ guidance.

It is an offence to apply for a post which involves engaging in regulated activity relevant to children if you are barred from doing so. Please be advised that, again in line with ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, shortlisted candidates (who wish to accept an invite to interview) will be required to submit, prior to their interview, a self-declaration of their criminal record or information that would make them unsuitable to work with children. Upon submission of this information, online checks may be carried out.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; the successful applicant will be expected to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure check. Having a criminal record will not necessarily debar you from obtaining a position with the School.

Equal Opportunities

Havering Schools aim to promote and ensure equality of opportunity and equal treatment for all. We are committed to equal opportunities in employment regardless of gender, marital status, race, colour, nationality (including citizenship), ethnic or national origins, disabilities, age, sexual orientation, responsibility for dependants, religious or political affiliation and trade union activities. All matters related to employment are decided on the basis of qualifications, merit and business need.
