Permanent position: term time + inset days.

Required April 2020

Working hours: Monday – Friday, 8.30 a.m. – 3.30 p.m. (with 30 minute lunch break).

APTC 3 points 5 - 6

Salary £21,591 - £21,981 pro rata (actual £16,560 p.a. - £16,859)

St. Edward’s is a very special place with a distinctive Christian ethos.  Our staff, parents and our governors are very proud of our school with its excellent team of dedicated teachers, support staff and its enthusiastic and caring children.  All come together to create a lively and engaging atmosphere in which to work, teach and learn.  Whilst we are inclusive in appointing staff of all faiths and none, we require staff to uphold and participate in our school’s Christian life.

As a result of expanding our Nursery provision, we are looking for a permanent Teaching Assistant who is flexible and happy to work in different settings, including supporting children at lunchtimes where necessary. As this role will initially be based in the Nursery, someone with experience of working in an Early Years setting would be very advantageous.

We would like to appoint someone who:

  • is enthusiastic, confident and able to show initiative;
  • is an effective communicator with pupils and staff;
  • possesses good literacy and numeracy skills;
  • relevant training, ideally in Early Years education;
  • has experience of working in an Early Years setting, preferably in a school, being a key worker for a group of children and carrying out observations on these children.

Application Procedure

Please complete the online application and refer to the Job Profile and Person Specification when completing your supporting statement.

Closing date for applications:        Tuesday, 25th February 2020 at Noon.

Interviews:                                     Week beginning Monday, 2nd March 2020.

“This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and a comprehensive screening process, including a Disclosure Check, will be undertaken on all applicants.’

Safeguarding

Havering Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The protection of our pupils from abuse is the responsibility of all staff within our schools, superseding any other considerations. Therefore Havering Schools comply with the Department for Education ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ guidance.

It is an offence to apply for a post which involves engaging in regulated activity relevant to children if you are barred from doing so. Please be advised that, again in line with ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, shortlisted candidates (who wish to accept an invite to interview) will be required to submit, prior to their interview, a self-declaration of their criminal record or information that would make them unsuitable to work with children. Upon submission of this information, online checks may be carried out.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; the successful applicant will be expected to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure check. Having a criminal record will not necessarily debar you from obtaining a position with the School.

Equal Opportunities

Havering Schools aim to promote and ensure equality of opportunity and equal treatment for all. We are committed to equal opportunities in employment regardless of gender, marital status, race, colour, nationality (including citizenship), ethnic or national origins, disabilities, age, sexual orientation, responsibility for dependants, religious or political affiliation and trade union activities. All matters related to employment are decided on the basis of qualifications, merit and business need.
