Scotts Primary School is a community school in South Hornchurch catering for children between the ages of 4 to 11. The school was built in 1974 and after a successful period of expansion, which reaches its final stage in September 2020, is now two form entry. We are a well resourced, highly successful primary school, judged as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted.
Our mission statement
‘Imagine with all your mind … Believe with all your heart … Achieve with all your might’ represents our whole school ethos.
We provide a positive, stimulating and caring learning environment where every individual is valued and respected and where every child matters. All children have talents and abilities to celebrate, and a part of our role is to help them discover and develop these. Our pupils are well motivated, confident and independent. We are proud to be at the forefront of new developments and have a strong drive to innovate.
We are looking for a dynamic and inspirational Headteacher with high expectations and a vision for the future which goes beyond ‘ outstanding’. We believe that there should be no barriers to achieving and are dedicated to continuous improvement – you will help us to find innovative and creative ways to evolve and further develop our broad and balanced curriculum and to provide our pupils with educational opportunities to enable them to participate successfully at an academic, social and emotional level in a rapidly changing world.
In return you will benefit from highly skilled teaching staff and classroom support with a strong collaborative ethos, a highly professional administration department, excellent parent and community links, and a team of supportive and dedicated governors.
We will be happy to show interested applicants around the school. Please contact Mrs Walker, Business Manager on 01708 457019 to book one of the following dates.

Havering Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The protection of our pupils from abuse is the responsibility of all staff within our schools, superseding any other considerations. Therefore Havering Schools comply with the Department for Education ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ guidance.
It is an offence to apply for a post which involves engaging in regulated activity relevant to children if you are barred from doing so. Please be advised that, again in line with ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, shortlisted candidates (who wish to accept an invite to interview) will be required to submit, prior to their interview, a self-declaration of their criminal record or information that would make them unsuitable to work with children. Upon submission of this information, online checks may be carried out.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; the successful applicant will be expected to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure check. Having a criminal record will not necessarily debar you from obtaining a position with the School.
Equal OpportunitiesHavering Schools aim to promote and ensure equality of opportunity and equal treatment for all. We are committed to equal opportunities in employment regardless of gender, marital status, race, colour, nationality (including citizenship), ethnic or national origins, disabilities, age, sexual orientation, responsibility for dependants, religious or political affiliation and trade union activities.
