Casual Midday Supervisors

(As and when needed)

Salary: APTC 2 points 3 – 4. £12.44 per hour.

St Ursula’s Catholic Federation is looking to employ a bank of Midday Supervisors to join the junior school and our friendly and enthusiastic team. Our pupils’ behaviour, attitudes and enjoyment were previously described by Ofsted, as being “good and sometimes exemplary”. We believe lunchtime supervisors have a very important role within our school and the contribution they make to the management of the school, the care and welfare of the children, and the continuation of learning into lunch and break times is valued very highly. We know that if our children and young people are happy and well cared for at lunch time, they will start the afternoons refreshed and ready to learn.

A Midday Supervisor will be responsible for:

  • Assisting and supporting the transition of pupils from class to the dining hall and/or the school playground (or other designated areas during wet play) and back to class at the end of lunchtime
  • Supervising and supporting pupils whilst they eat including encouraging the correct use of knife and fork and table etiquette and behaviour
  • Cleaning and clearing away tables and chairs in the dining hall
  • Promoting and supervising positive and active play and pupil relationships;
  • Health, safety, security and basic first aid (after relevant training);
  • Managing student behaviour;
  • Planning, encouraging and actively supporting positive play activities.

The successful applicant will have:

  • A positive attitude and can work in a calm manner
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • The ability to communicate and co-operate effectively with pupils and staff
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Possess excellent self-initiated problem solving skills and can work in a team as well as on their own when needed
  • A positive, motivated outlook and be very punctual

Please apply online.

Closing date: Friday 27th March 2020

Safeguarding

Havering Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The protection of our pupils from abuse is the responsibility of all staff within our schools, superseding any other considerations. Therefore Havering Schools comply with the Department for Education ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ guidance.

It is an offence to apply for a post which involves engaging in regulated activity relevant to children if you are barred from doing so. Please be advised that, again in line with ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, shortlisted candidates (who wish to accept an invite to interview) will be required to submit, prior to their interview, a self-declaration of their criminal record or information that would make them unsuitable to work with children. Upon submission of this information, online checks may be carried out.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; the successful applicant will be expected to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure check. Having a criminal record will not necessarily debar you from obtaining a position with the School.

Equal Opportunities

Havering Schools aim to promote and ensure equality of opportunity and equal treatment for all. We are committed to equal opportunities in employment regardless of gender, marital status, race, colour, nationality (including citizenship), ethnic or national origins, disabilities, age, sexual orientation, responsibility for dependants, religious or political affiliation and trade union activities. All matters related to employment are decided on the basis of qualifications, merit and business need.
