St Mary’s Catholic Primary School is looking to add to our Learning Support Team.

We are a nurturing community, committed to giving the children the best start in life, where they are encouraged to be Christ-like in their daily lives. As a school we aspire to create happy memories, where children are inspired to become resilient, independent and have a love of learning.

At St Mary’s, we believe that we only have one chance to create a holistic education, developing the whole person and valuing the individual as unique, created in God’s likeness. We aim to keep a child’s innate sense of inquiry and joy alive and shining brightly.

An exciting opportunity has arisen with the school and the Governing Body are eager to appoint an HLTA to support the smooth running of the school on a daily basis.

The HLTA will teach individuals, groups and whole classes either on their own or in the presence of a teacher and/or other teaching assistant. They will also supervise/cover classes (without the presence of a teacher) in the event of planned or unplanned absence by other teachers in the school.

We ask that interested applicants are:

  • Outstanding practitioners;
  • Committed to high standards of achievement and behaviour;
  • Flexible and able to work as part of a team but also show initiative to work independently;
  • Are highly motivated and enthusiastic;
  • Committed to Continued Professional Development and able to inspire and motivate others;
  • Is a people person who enjoys working with children.

Our school offers:

  • Brilliant children, keen to learn;
  • A well-resourced environment and a strong commitment to School Improvement;
  • A firm commitment to the Continuing Professional Development of all staff;
  • Friendly and Supportive working environment, with opportunities to progress in your career.

We welcome visits to our school and would love to meet you.

St Mary’s is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. References and an enhanced DBS Check are required for the successful candidate.

Safeguarding

Havering Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The protection of our pupils from abuse is the responsibility of all staff within our schools, superseding any other considerations. Therefore Havering Schools comply with the Department for Education ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ guidance.

It is an offence to apply for a post which involves engaging in regulated activity relevant to children if you are barred from doing so. Please be advised that, again in line with ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, shortlisted candidates (who wish to accept an invite to interview) will be required to submit, prior to their interview, a self-declaration of their criminal record or information that would make them unsuitable to work with children. Upon submission of this information, online checks may be carried out.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; the successful applicant will be expected to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure check. Having a criminal record will not necessarily debar you from obtaining a position with the School.

Equal Opportunities

Havering Schools aim to promote and ensure equality of opportunity and equal treatment for all. We are committed to equal opportunities in employment regardless of gender, marital status, race, colour, nationality (including citizenship), ethnic or national origins, disabilities, age, sexual orientation, responsibility for dependants, religious or political affiliation and trade union activities. All matters related to employment are decided on the basis of qualifications, merit and business need.
