Oakfields Preparatory School is a happy and vibrant independent day school in Upminster, educating boys and girls, aged 3 to 11.
The role
We are seeking to appoint an inspirational music teacher that will be willing and committed to making the most of music at our small and friendly independent school. The role will include teaching music as a discrete lesson to classes across all phases (where the average class size is 15) ensuring a progression of skills and an excitement amongst the children for the subject.
Other duties would include:
- Organising performances and showcasing musical talent amongst our children.
- Supporting other staff members with performances
The successful candidate must strongly believe in the values that make our school who we are.
At Oakfields we:
- Celebrate each child’s individual talents and strengths which will enable them to make progress.
- Provide a happy school where children build confidence and enjoy
- Promote kindness, co-operation and respect for
- Develop a curiosity in children that encourages them to discover and enjoy our
- Keep our pupils as children whilst preparing them for their next
Our ultimate aim is that all past Oakfields students will look back at their time with us with pride, believing that we helped them to become the person they are today.
What makes Oakfields a great place to work?
- Our children: their behaviour is exemplary. Our children love to learn and are always curious to develop new skills and enhance their knowledge. As our behaviour is exemplary, no time is wasted in lessons. 100% learning in 100% of the lessons.
- Our staff: we are kind. All our staff from middays to cleaners to SLT talk and support each other to help our children be the very best they can be.
- Our location: it truly is breath taking. There is something special about working in a Grade II listed building full of historic memories that we get to be a part of each day.
- Our curriculum: we design our own. One of the many great aspects of being an independent school is designing our own curriculum for the children in our school. We describe it as traditional with a modern twist - it is at the heart of our school.
- We are excellent. In March 2022, we were inspected by ISI and were judged as excellent – the highest grading – in all 16 areas.
