TEACHER OF MATHS

MAIN/UPPER PAY SCALE

REQUIRED FROM SEPTEMBER 2024 OR JANUARY 2025

The Coopers’ Company and Coborn School is a dynamic, co-educational school.  Inspired by our historic tradition of 'Love as Brethren', we strive to be outstanding in everything we do, producing young people who have the confidence, qualifications, experience and aspiration to be successful in the 21st Century world.

We are seeking an enthusiastic candidate to join the very successful Mathematics Department. The school has excellent facilities, is over-subscribed and is attended by highly motivated students, who achieve excellent results.

The Mathematics Department consists of 10 teachers.  The majority of students are taught in mixed ability classes, although there are small nurture groups in years 9 to 11.

In key stages 3 and 4, we use the White Rose scheme of learning.

Students in key stage 4 study the AQA GCSE specification.  The majority of our students are entered for the higher GCSE examination, with only a very small number taking the foundation qualification.  Our results at GCSE are consistently strong and the number of students taking A level Mathematics with us has grown significantly in recent years.

In key stage 5, we offer both Maths and Further Maths.  Our key stage 5 exam board is Edexcel.

We enjoy a fine reputation for the quality of our pastoral care and extra-curricular provision and are committed to the professional development of all our staff, as well as innovative teaching and learning strategies.

There is an excellent ECT induction programme in place and Early Career Teachers are welcome to apply in addition to experienced practitioners.

The school is a short walk from Upminster station where Overground and Underground services are available; these connect to central London (Fenchurch Street), Romford and all District Line destinations. The school is also a short drive from the M25, A12 and A13.

Interested colleagues are invited to contact Sue Hay, Headteacher, for further information about the post.  Her contact details are via her PA – jfy@cooperscoborn.co.uk

Application Forms can be downloaded from our website at www.cooperscoborn.org.uk.  Completed application forms should be sent to Samantha Durrell, Human Resources at recruitment@cooperscoborn.co.uk

Closing date for the receipt of applications is Wednesday 19th June 2024 at Noon

Interviews will be held shortly afterwards

The Coopers’ Company and Coborn School values diversity and is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

The successful candidate’s appointment will be subject to the receipt of a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure (via the Disclosure & Barring Service) and Pre-employment checks

The school reserves the right to interview suitable candidates before the closing date, if the situation arises.

Safeguarding

Havering Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The protection of our pupils from abuse is the responsibility of all staff within our schools, superseding any other considerations. Therefore Havering Schools comply with the Department for Education ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ guidance.

It is an offence to apply for a post which involves engaging in regulated activity relevant to children if you are barred from doing so. Please be advised that, again in line with ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, shortlisted candidates (who wish to accept an invite to interview) will be required to submit, prior to their interview, a self-declaration of their criminal record or information that would make them unsuitable to work with children. Upon submission of this information, online checks may be carried out.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; the successful applicant will be expected to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure check. Having a criminal record will not necessarily debar you from obtaining a position with the School.

Equal Opportunities

Havering Schools aim to promote and ensure equality of opportunity and equal treatment for all. We are committed to equal opportunities in employment regardless of gender, marital status, race, colour, nationality (including citizenship), ethnic or national origins, disabilities, age, sexual orientation, responsibility for dependants, religious or political affiliation and trade union activities. All matters related to employment are decided on the basis of qualifications, merit and business need.
